committee assignments

The president shall preside over meetings of the Congregation Council and of the congregation unless
the meeting decides otherwise.

The vice president shall preside in the absence of the president, unless the meeting decides otherwise.

The secretary shall keep the minutes of the Council and of the congregation and shall preserve its
archives.

The treasurer shall be custodian of all the funds of the congregation; and shall disburse all such funds in
accordance with the decisions of the congregation or the Congregation Council. The treasurer shall present
an audited report to the annual meeting and such other reports to the Congregation Council as may be
required.

The Congregation Council officers shall be ex officio members of the following committees: President -
Worship and Community Outreach; Vice President - Property and Visions; Secretary - Education and Youth
and Memorial; Treasurer - Stewardship and Endowment

A Congregation Council member who is not an officer shall be the chair of a committee to be assigned
by the Congregation Council. The chair of each committee shall be included in the total number of members
of each committee.

The president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer shall constitute the members of the Executive
Committee. The Purpose of the Executive Committee shall be:

a.         To review the financial matters of the congregation on an annual basis;

b.         To prepare the annual budget for consideration of the Congregation

c.         To review all salaries of persons employed by the congregation

worship committee

Meets Oct., Feb., April, Aug.

A Worship Committee of seven members of this congregation shall be elected by the Congregation Council for a term of one year.
The purpose of the Worship Committee shall be:

a.         To assist the Congregation Council in the area of worship;

b.         To see that the services of God's house are conducted regularly and in accordance with the faith and

            practice of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America;

c.         To see that ushers, lectors, and acolytes are recruited and trained; and

d.         To see that all hymnals and other music material are provided and properly cared for.

The Worship Committee shall supervise:

a.         The choirs of the congregation;

b.         The care of paraments, vestments, and musical instruments; and

c.         In consultation with the pastor, the organist, and the choir directors, the acquisition of music supplies
            appropriate for use in the worship of a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

stewardship committee

Meets Sept., Nov., Mar., May, 

 A Stewardship Committee of seven members of this congregation shall be elected by the Congregation Council for a term of one year.
The purpose of the Stewardship Committee shall be:

a.         To provide the congregation with a year-round program of stewardship education designed to teach the members about biblical stewardship                    and  encourage their participation in such practices;

b.         To plan and conduct the annual "every member response" campaign;

c.         To develop and conduct asset assessment programs which will help the members of the congregation become more effective in ministry; and

d.         To encourage special giving, designated giving, and giving from accumulated resources to the congregation's Mission Endowment Fund.

education and youth committee

(Meets Aug., Oct., Feb., April, 

 An Education and Youth Committee of seven members of this congregation shall be elected by the Congregation Council for a term of one year.
The purpose of the Education and Youth Committee shall be:

a.         To oversee in association with the pastor the conduct and promotion of the schools and learning activities of all organizations within the                            congregation;

b.         To encourage the use of teaching and worship materials published or approved by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America;

c.         To seek to introduce the church's periodicals and books of family devotion into the homes of the congregation;

d.         To bring to the attention of the pastor those persons whom it feels are qualified for the ordained ministry or other church vocations;

e.         To be aware of the needs and interests of youth, and plan appropriate experiences, events, and meetings to meet their needs and interests;

f.          To assist youth in identifying and sharing the church's confession of faith both as recipients and participants in Christ's fellowship of worship,                   learning, witness, service and support;

g.         To promote youth in the mission and ministry of Christ through this congregation so that the Word of  God becomes fruitful in their lives                            individually and communally;

h.         To recognize and help others recognize that youth are full members of the church and partners in its ministry;

i.          To assist youth so that leadership is developed and fostered and the unique gifts of youth are seen as beneficial and integral part of the                         church's ministry; and

j.          To work to include all youth in the total life of the congregation, accepting them as fellow children of             God.

community outreach committee

(Meets Aug., Oct., Feb., April, 

 A Community Outreach Committee of seven members of this congregation shall be elected by the Congregation Council for a term of one year.
The purpose of the Community Outreach Committee shall be;

a.         To stimulate and lead all members of the congregation in continuous and, from time to time concerted endeavors to reawaken the spiritually                    indifferent;

b.         To reach others, who are as yet unwon, with the Gospel and attach them to Christ's Church;

c.         To deepen the spiritual life of this congregation;

d.         To periodically study the congregation in the context of its surrounding community;

e.         To extend Christian compassion and helpfulness to the ill, the aged, the orphaned, the underprivileged, the imprisoned, and in general, to                        persons of all ages in need of aid in body or Soul;

f.          To strive to enlist in its efforts as many as possible the individual members and organizations of this congregation;

g.         To study social conditions, primarily in the local community, in order to bring the cleansing and healing light of Christian truth to bear upon                        critical problems through Christian discussions of facts and issues;

h.         To lay before the Congregation Council proposals for action issuing from such study and discussion.

PROPERTY committee

A Property Committee of seven members of this congregation shall be elected by the Congregation Council for a term of one year.
The Property Committee shall see to the proper maintenance and protection of all property of the congregation, and shall take care that the same is kept in good repair.

memorial committee

(Meets Aug., Oct., Feb., April, 

A Memorial Committee of seven members of this congregation shall be elected by the Congregation Council for a term of one year.
The purpose of the Memorial Committee shall be:

a.         To oversee and administer the congregation's program of memorials;

b.         To acknowledge receipt of memorial gifts and determine their disposition;

c.         To consider the total ministry of the congregation to best determine objects most desirable as memorials;

d.         To designate after six months undesignated monetary gifts in cooperation with the families concerned;

e.         To order objects approved as memorials, and oversee their delivery and installation; and

f.          To keep an accurate record of all memorials.

visions committee

 A Visions Committee of seven members of this congregation shall be elected by the Congregation Council for a term of one year.
The purpose of a Visions Committee shall be:

a.         To help the congregation focus on our identity as Christians, as Lutherans, and as a gathering of God's

            people within this particular community;

b.         To clarify the understanding of God's mission through the congregation within its context and to encourage a continuing commitment to fulfill                    that mission;

c.         To provide a means of evaluating the congregation's progress in carrying out its ministry; and

d.         To imagine new programs for ministry for the congregation in response to the ever changing challenges of fulfilling its mission in the future.
